Interlude: Interview about Mama
[Interviewer]
So MayDay, what’s been your biggest inspiration for this album?
[MayDay]
My biggest inspiration’s been my mom. I mean she did so much for me growing up, taking care of the family, being a single mom, never letting anyone see her pain. She was a fighter. And the thing she always taught me was to do everything with love. Achieve your goals with love, hate people with love, I mean it was always love. And I honestly don’t know where I’d be without her love. I mention her a lot in this album. It was hard to write, cause you know, some days are really tough. I can’t call her up you know, and tell her about my day or something exciting I want to share with her. She’s not here anymore, and it’s like I have to constantly remind myself that, even after so many years. But writing this album really helped me deal with a lot of that pain and to look back on the good memories. Cause I don't want to think about her being gone. I want to think about all the good moments I had with her and keep that love with me. That's what pushes me, and that's why I'm where I am today
