The Summer We Raised You
Confess my sins to the falling rain
They all come down like radio waves
And i cut my teeth on the torture and pain
But no one seems to notice
Cantilever my sight will stretch this span
Crossing over a sea, a sea of red
And i throw my seeds in a hole
Into the earth but nothing grows
The summer we sat in the sun we raised you
Slowly, your sent it fades like yesterday
And the only thing that i have
Is an empty house that's filled with your effigy
Now i'm forced to sit alone and
Cantilever my sight will stretch this span
Crossing over a sea, a sea of red
And i throw my seeds in a hole
Into the earth but nothing grows
And maybe someday i will come around
When the buildings have fallen and plants have covered the ground
The summer we sat in the sun we raised you.
