Polaroids & Prose
We scribbled dates
And sometimes little phrases
Depending upon
The feelingsand moments that
We wereonce in
Thoughts and emotional
Patternsbounced off corners
Sent echos down
The corridorsof my mind
Spent most of my timekeeping
Those visions aligned but
I often forgot the sequential
Orderof happiness within the frames
While the polaroids faded
Rearranged and, repositioned
To become the emotional weathervane
Leaving the wind to reclaim the pain
I reached out to grab them but
The wind shouted out in panic and
They just drifted away
Just drifted away
They just drifted
They drifted away
Like a ship set
Sailtowards a full moon
I'm still haunted
By the words you said
"I'll see you soon"
At the edge of the ocean
We'll part ways
Where the sun came to drown
With nothing left to be found
Memories held together
By a thin white string
I can still hear the wind sing
The tension builds until
It snapsa house
Of polaroids collapses
Warn and weathered by a storm
And now I'm left feeling so cold
By the same things that used
Tokeep me so warm
And I can't feelyou anymore
All that's left of you
Is a star burst of black and blue
All this just to say that
"I still miss you"
