I Divided Europe

I drew a line one thousand acres wide
Set up a sign saying: “don’t you cross that line”
So I divided Europe in halves of myself and your past
It stayed like this till now
I kept the hills and the countryside
And you possessed the shores
And the harbours, the sea breeze and the surf
We’re meant to stay apart
It’s not in your view, not in your hands and not at your service
It’s not from this world, not in your car and not at the birdhouse
