Always Tomorrow
in a '62 Rambler with a little U-haul
full of duffel bags and guitars, two kids ridin' tall
off to climb the mountains
find out what there was to see
took a three-room walk-up in a cold-water town
a dollar'd get you dinner, just enough to go around
but nobody was counting
that was fair enough for me
I had no plans for the long run
but things just change and they never change back
but there'll never be another band like that one
there was always tomorrow
always tomorrow waiting down the track
all the way across the ocean
I landed on my feet
I was doin' the Locomotion, it was all about the beat
poetry and potions till I couldn't stand the heat
and it all came tumbling down
I wrote a couple letters and I tried to keep in touch
I could of done it better, guess I didn't do enough
and if you don't know what to look for
you don't know what you've found
one day we'll all be needing someone
and my very last thought as I got down off that bus
was 'there'll never be another girl like that one'
there was always tomorrow waiting
always tomorrow waiting for us
and it's not about how often we fall down here
well it's all about how often we get back up
I know we might have taken the long, long way around here
but there was always tomorrow waiting
time enough
yeah, there's always tomorrow waiting
till it all turns to dust
baby, there's always tomorrow waiting
always tomorrow waiting for us
