Water & Wheat
Clouds sweep down from the heavens to the wheat, the town
Sleeps in the thick heat of the eve
Clouds go wherever I breathe
Water washes over armies beckoning red rover
Fast erasing all the castles claimed in chalk
Water goes wherever I walk
Clouds go wherever I breathe – water wherever I walk
There’s patterns of heavens and earth
There’s wind and there’s water and wheat and the rest is just talk
Winds whip strong, stoop to carry me along, into a
Night I might not otherwise have known
Winds’ll warm you right down to the bone
And out across the North Sea, you can hang your soul like laundry
You can write your love on beach trees in the breeze
The world can drop you dumb down on your knees
Wind warms me down to my bones – world drops me dead as I walk
This wind and this water and wheat
These dreams under wide skies cut free – all the rest is just talk
All the rest is just jaws
Their effect and their cause
A futility of claws
Carving blood into laws
Claiming castles in chalk
I’ll continue to walk
I’ll continue to walk
I won’t look back or balk
I’ll continue to walk
I’ll continue to walk
