Roman Inventions

Jack Drewry, Jesse Meadows

The roman army needed to travel fast
So fast
They couldn't get anywhere on their windy muddy paths
Windy paths
So what did they do? They built long straight roads
To march lots of soldiers and to carry big loads
Laying down bricks and lots of rubble
Helped the romans stay out of trouble
And their rule will be unending
If the Romans keep inventing
Who built a big empire
The Romans did
That stretched around the Mediterranean sea
Who solved their tough problems
The Romans did
By inventing and improving their technology
Hold on, technology, isn't that to do with computers and stuff
Yes but the word technology is for anything
that uses new ideas to solve problems
Using Science to develop new tools and equipment
Look! That house looks warm
That's underfloor heating
And That house looks cold
That's the first air conditioning
They'd been struggling to count
So they wrote some new numbers
Made a new calendar
To track the number of summers
When it burnt down, they needed to rebuild Rome
Rebuild Rome
And in the new city build an epic Pantheon Dome
Pantheon Dome
So what did they do? They invented concrete
To rebuild every house on the street
Made from volcanic rock, this magic mortar
That worked above ground and underwater
And their rule will be unending
If the Romans keep inventing
Who built a big empire
The Romans did
That stretched around the mediterranean sea
Who solved their tough problems
The Romans did
By inventing and improving their technology
Who built a big empire
The Romans did
That stretched around the mediterranean sea
Who solved their tough problems
The Romans did
By inventing and improving their technology
