Friday Night
Last orders called and he's on his own
he sees a girl standing by the phone
he gives a wink, he gives a smile
he hopes he's pulled 'cause it's been a while
he's never seen her in the neighbourhood
does he go over, he thinks he should
the lights are flashing and the music's loud
he makes his way through the swaying crowd
Says all the things you'd expect him to
the things you say when you've had a few
do you want a drink, do you want a smoke
did you come here with a bloke
she answers yes but he doesn't listen
she looks so good through his blurry vision
he asks her if she wants to dance
here's his opportunity, he takes his chance
He grabs her waist and they dance some more
one split second and he hits the floor
what you doing with my bird
was the next thing that he heard
the smash of glass and the searing pain
he stumbles round as the punches rain
the bouncers blame him for the fight
drag him out into the night
Every week it's always the same
women on his mind and booze in his brain
