Call us free (spoken word by JaelSpeaks)
O whom it may concern
We have been dropped in the ground
And tossed in the sky
As a result of a system working properly
Our children snatched, cadged, and raped to preserve a point
And they line the borders with an outcry
So loud everyone puts them on mute
//Or tells them to hush
Then wonders why they missing
Our mouths have become too tired to border barrels and barricades
And our bodies have started to refusе the koolaid
Because whеn sober
We realize we no longer want to be casualties of war
Especially when the battle was not ours to begin with
Our big mamas are shrinking so small
We can barely read them
And our fathers are so warm
They still feel alive
Behind the glass
Ceiling
Our sisters look so propped
Our brothers suffocated by tailored nooses now called ties
Our pay checks play ping pong
Like Peter and Paul
But ain't we all/we both suppose to be disciples
Our taxes pay for property made in our image
Is plastered everywhere as most wanted
But no one wants to claim the body
And so I ask that you grab a pen
And demand it become a scalpel
Peel off the massa’s mask
And cock back until you trigger happy
Until your smile is as wide as an equator
Until you forget to be afraid and fly
Like a warm baby swoodeled in love
Show them you are more than an African proverb
And do not stop after you wake up the sun
For you are a Supernova
And not a piece in their galaxy
Show them you are breathtaking
And do not let them take your breath away
And as beautiful as peaceful protest are
Imagine the oppressor running into fate
And finally getting they pay back
Whenever you decide
Remember
This may be their land
But this is your promise
And we are too close// too far to
