In Spring Air

Shane McCord

In spring air we descend down the street
You turn the corner but I keep walking
Past auto body garages and vacant row home strips
The store front windows sport a reflections
Of my body
My clothing
And I wear a mask with your face on it

Little is said of physical distance
When I've spent so long bathing in your fragrance
The wallpaper in my room mutates to your color
My speech to your accent
It's not as simple as pulling nail outta brick

Figures obscure in late evening light
Blurring the lines of where you end and I begin
She licks the salt with my tongue
To dissolve my malleable form
It's just as simple as putting nail into brick
