Powder Blue

Thinking bout a life I knew
And how the sky’s true colour
Cast a spell over you
Heaven’s wonder was on display
In shades of powder blue

Thinking back on a corner store
And how the change in my pocket
Jangled with the changes in store
For me as I made my way
Afraid of changing more

But is it strange to attach a colour
To a moment or a sound?
To a feeling or misgiving?
To a shadow hanging round?

Photograph of a boy I knew

Matched his pullover too
Now I catch a glimpse as he fades

It seems time often paints
These memories on parade
