After School
I was out front of your door
Trying to figure what to do
Take what’s mine, take what’s yours
Laugh it off and play it cool
No, I need to talk to you
I’ll lie and say you dropped your ruler
Thought I had my ducks all in a row
When I saw you after school
We were talking with our t-shirts out
I bent down to tie my shoe
All knots, nothing would come loose
I saw white clouds on the move
I looked up and squinted at you
Hey, can you feel the light
Breaking in from all sides?
Have you ever seen such holy light?
I think this must be some sort of proof
Or I could just call you
Some night or early afternoon
Eyes closed, you say, ‘What’s stopping you?’
Well, I haven’t got a clue
