Twilight

As I try to crawl out, through a thousand bodies of men
All of my fallen friends
Realize my legs are lost, both of them blown away
Will I die with the rest of them?

Some seek peace in death, such is the beauty of war
May I be a hero now?
Legacy of dying in vain, the pain remains
Profane; shame

And I still remember your name, in my heart
Always have, where now a shrapnel resides

I never understood, why they have to die
How in their eyes, are we not the enemy?

As I am buried alive, under the corpses
