Little Wife Talk
I wish I got married in the 90's drinking cheerwine with my husband
In our trailer in the country that is crawling
With small statues of Mary and her baby
And I’ll look to her for answers
When I'm trying to conform to everything that the Bible asks of me
Every Sunday I can make hot casserole
For everyone at the potluck at the local church
And something sweet the kids will like
And when they ask me what I put in all my famous dishes
I will tell them the truth:
And I'll say:
"Snips snails and puppy dog tails
And the blood of 20,000 women
Dogwood blooms, soft guitar blues
And the foreskin of our next president
Drunken sailors and all their tall tales
And the tears of 20,000 women
Moravian wives and their perfectly tied color-coded ribbons"
