One Good Thing
He reads to me dirty magazines from the back seat
Covers my ears with the arch of his feet
The roving ocean in a shell
The rhythm of his voice
He feeds me sardines hooked on a key
Saying look-y here sister a gift from the sea
Pours his big hands over my wings
That's one good thing
You know his voice totes a five pound rasp
Shaved the heals off of pegasus, knocked her flat on her ass
In the middle of a texaco stride
Shaken but alive
He sets it up, plays the car with a drum roll
Recites a poem that would terrorize any dark soul
No apologies for the tears that it brings
That's one good thing
I know he's broke, i've broken a few
I've touched the names of all those pretty girls tattooed
Across his wilderness
Oh i can only guess
But right now he's holding on and laughing like a boy possessed
And my paper doll cut off her own dress
Anyways there's no bargaining
That's one good thing
