Shawnee to Northfield (Behind the School)
Do you think it's late enough?
The girls' told us to meet them at a quarter to one
But we don't really want to wake your dad
Everything we do seems to make him so mad
We'll be fine so long as we sneak out the basement window
And be back before the sun shines on tomorrow
We've got to stick to all the main streets
Keep it quiet, no picking fights with mailboxes
And if we spot the cops where will we go?
We'll play it off and tell them we're on our way home
I wouldn't mind as long as they don't call my mother
And so what? After all we're still only minors
I'm not used to being brave
But tonight that could all change
Cross the train tracks and we'll be playground bound
Ignore the noises and we'll be safe and sound
This town at night can be spooky, but it's nothing terrible
But we wouldn't want a run in with the Jersey Devil
I wouldn't mind as long as I get to see their faces
And I might try to steal a kiss if I'm feeling courageous
I'm not used to feeling brave
But tonight that's all going to change
