About Midnight
I awoke at about midnight some guy tapping on my head
He said in a big loud voice "Congratulations you're dead"
I imagine you can imagine my surprise but I tell you he was telling no lies
Looking around as hard as I could but my life I could not find
Laying there unable to move I thought it might be time to go
He was up getting ready to leave breathing real easy and slow
I tried to speak but my voice was weak I barely even made a sound
He just walked over and he took my hand pulled me up off the ground
Somehow someway we were drifting along apparently there were places to be
Weren't in a hurry or time wasn't a thing every moment was free
He answered my questions as they came to mind with 'yes, no' and 'yesterday'
I didn't know worry couldn't see concern my conscience was featherweight
I awoke at about midnight guy sitting on the edge of my bed
He said is wasn't my time yet and it wasn't just in my head
There in the dark he shook my hand said he'd see me next time
After he left I understood he meant when life ain't mine
