Jessie
Jessie was a girl of the night with auburn curly hair
Jessie sang and danced for rogues and regals
She put out for her money knowing it wasn’t fair
But still she’d flash around her silks and frills
Jessie to save her own life was quick to tell a lie
A skill she’d learned from running with the tramps
But she was lion hearted you would never see her cry
And her family disappeared without a glance
And they’d sing
Oh Jessie - don’t be shy tonight
It’s show time, get in line, she’s such a crime
Oh Jessie - give the boys a smile
It’s just a job you know
Jessie she looked lovely in her long lacy pants
But lovely ain’t so lovely around here
She fascinated farmers and they’d fantasise about her
Grinning as they finished off a beer
And they’d sing
Oh Jessie - don’t be shy tonight
It’s show time, get in line, she’s such a crime
Oh Jessie - give the boys a smile
It’s just a job you know
Jessie’s days were numbered in that dirty dying bar
She didn’t have a lot of common sense
And she fell for a rich guy who had secrets in the dark
And covered in her own blood she was left
And they’d sing
Oh Jessie - don’t be shy tonight
It’s show time, get in line, she’s such a crime
Oh Jessie - give the boys a smile
It’s just a job you know
And they’d sing
Oh Jessie - don’t be shy tonight
It’s show time, get in line, she’s such a crime
Oh Jessie - give the boys a smile
It’s just a job you know
Oh Jessie - i’m talking to you
