Broken

They gathered in the upper room
The fellowship was sweet
As Jesus stood, the man grew silent
He then began to speak
He told them that His time had come
As He passed the wine and the bread
The symbols of His broken body
And the blood that He would shed

The only true love this world ever knew
Was nailed upon a tree
The only Son God had to send
Was sent to Calvary
Jesus gave His life that we may live

With the whip His back was beaten
With nails His hands were pierced
And on His head a thorny crown
His side was torn by the spear
In spite of all His suffering
Jesus had gone through
It wasn't pain that killed the Lord
It was a broken heart for me and you
