Dance Of The Seven Veils
To tell the truth
John the Baptist fascinated her
He was just too clean, too wild
Too chaste to be true
Salome, on the other hand
Daughter of Babylon
Had never been refused - nothing
So when the Baptist maligned her
The more he maligned her
The more she wanted to just reach down
And take his lips and kiss them
When he refused she was furious she said
"Hey, listen Baptist
You want your head on a platter?"
Now the king was enthralled by Salome
He begged her to dance the
Dance of the seven veils
He promised her anything -
"Anything?" she said
"yeah, well, OK i mean
If it's anything, yeah, oK"
So she danced the dance of the seven
Veils without once revealing her purpose
And when she finished she said
"I want the head of the Baptist yeah
Gimme the head of the Baptist!"
The king was appalled, but what could he do?
He had promised her anything
Salome reached down to the
Head still dripping, cut, on the platter
And kissed those lips that had
Always been refused her and as she rose
Dancing to the heat of the rhythm of death
The king turned around and said
"Now get her"
Beneath the seven veils, nothing was revealed
Beyond the seven seas, who cares?
Beneath the seven veils, nothing is revealed
Beyond the seven seas, who cares? Who cares?
Who cares?
Beneath the seven veils, nothing is revealed
Beyond the seven seas, who cares?
Beneath the seven veils, nothing is revealed
Beyond the seven seas, who cares?
Beneath the seven veils, nothing is revealed
Beyond the seven seas, who cares?
