Every day I drink up a cup of Joe
Instant coffee in my cup 'cause I don't have time to spare
In my car, I think about the big stuff
Money, fame, misery and those kinds of things

"Did I buy it, or was it sold to me?"

The siren wails way way off in the distance
Some foreign anguish to the back sounds of my day
In the square, I see Mary in her new suit
She waves "Hello" but my hands weighed down
By my shopping bags, I can't wave back
