Postcard #12
March 22nd, you know what year it is
Snorkeling in the South China Sea
Over a city built of coral reefs
With tiger-striped fishes minding their own business
I'm like a spaceship hovering in her sky
Ooh, snorkeling in the South China Sea
Ooh, snorkeling in the South China Sea
I'm surfing their society
The ocean's own little hierarchy
The weak gets eaten by the stronger
But the little gets stronger in number
Coalitions and schools form
Ooh, snorkeling in the South China Sea
Ooh, snorkeling in the South China Sea
Ooh
Ooh
A cleaner fish swims by
Checking tails and fins for parasites
Like a shoe shiner on Wall Street
The blue-collar worker of the sea
We all do what we can to get by
Find a niche that keeps us alive
Ooh, snorkeling in the South China Sea
Ooh
A current pushes me back to shore
Sends a shiver across the ocean floor
And the spaceship over the ocean surf
Back to planet earth
Ooh, snorkeling in the South China Sea
Ooh, I'm snorkeling in the South China Sea
Ooh, snorkeling in the South China Sea
Ooh
Ooh
