Privileged Morality
I shall die, but that is all I shall do for Death
I hear him leading his horse out of the stall
I hear the clatter on the barn floor
He is in haste
Hehas business in the north, east, south and west
Many calls this morning
But I will not hold the bridle
While he cinches on the girth
He may mount by himself
I will not give him a leg up
Though heflick my shoulders with his whip
I will not tell him which way the fox ran
With his hoof on my breast
I will not tell him where
The boy hides in the swamp
I shall die, but that is all I shall do for Death
I am not on his payroll
Iwill not tell him the whеreabouts of comrades
Nor of enеmies either
The siren wail, and the screaming
Houses brought to their knees in the dust
Towers crack, facades spat out, and the hurricanes
Drone of the engines
Contempt - drainded blood
War wasted peoples
Historical decadence colonial disaster
Abysses of debt that become heritage
We hawk a philanthropy that kills to kill all pain
War is no longer declared, only continued
The monstrous has become everyday
The "hero" stays away from battle
There is no front
Yes, we shall die
And that is not all we shall do for death
We hear him leading his horse out of the stall
We hear the clatter on the barn floor
He is in haste
He has business in the north, east, south and west
And we may not hold the bridle
But he will mount by himself
We do naught to stop him
And instead turn away
