Cardboard and Stone
Living in a hard (cold) world
Temporary sanctuary
In a place that I don't own
I'm all alone
Sleeping on cardboard and stone
The chill sets in my bone
In a doorway, that somebody else owns
I spend all my nights alone
Sleeping on cardboard and stone
Played in cardboard boxes as a kid
Had so much fun making up the games
Now I'm on the skids
A dirty face without any name
It's hard and cold and there's no protection
From the harsh city environs
No place to rest or call my own
I just keep rolling, like a rolling stone
The chill sets in my bone
Under an awning, that somebody else owns
I spend my nights all alone
Sleeping on cardboard and stone
Under the stars is my home
Sleeping on cardboard and stone
