Pay Homage

Find me on a Friday vibing bumping the Isley's, my brother thought i was sample finding but i was just unwinding, like a yo yo, but i never used to walk the dog, i walked around listening to doggy-style, with a walk-man on, assuming gin and juice, was ginger beer and apple juice, i got all my friends drinking it, we like yo this what the rappers do, don't confuse our influences as ignorance, we was just innocence and in a sense, hip hop gave us an inner sense of confidence and from school talent shows, the flows seem promising, shell toes match the shell suits by Adidas, dealers doing dirty work, usually had the cleanest, but i remember getting told don't fuck with crime just bust rhyme, so when we went to new school we was the leaders, quoting more in depth poetry than the teachers and now i hear my own voice coming through the speakers.

Battered of grade, as we played Sam & Dave, feels like i'm sat on Saturn its a certain Saturday, not a tantrum for attention, cause the music still plays, i'm breaking all the laws cause of course it pays, integrity the passport, punk i'm jumping hurdles, to pen a note in journal, push my pain to my past thought, who's that knocking? knock Knocking at my minds door? is it all the people all the people that we asked for, top draw Partridge, old school like Atari games that loaded form their own cartridge, don't get me started the future is coming, technology got society all dumbing down, like Smokey Robinson i see the tears of a clown, stranded on a pulpit, culture goes round and round, circles and cycles, we love Hip Hop, found like life its vital when it stops.

Hip hop started out in the park, well, for us it started out in the projects, we used to rock house party's and talent shows, we couldn't even get into bars yet, gangsta rap was in you claim the Crip or the Blood set, and then Easy E took a blood test, before all these royalty's and pub cheques, we was just wannabe's and rough necks, until we got invited to those festivals, we was kicking cyphers in the vestibules, watching above the rim sipping on the special brew, when Pac had the homies riding on the lesser crew, and then they killed my nigga bruv Beetie, i tag his name on the wall with the Graffiti, thinking i should keep this talent to myself and be greedy but i cant leave rap alone, the world needs me.
