Angel
Did it have to take so long - my time was nearly gone,
been walkin' somewhere since the day that I was born.
The men I've had to be- not one of them was me;
I've found myself in clothes I should have never worn.
Then in a place where love had never walked before,
the room was filled with a blinding light.
One voice on every breath, one face in every door,
can this be wrong when it feels so right?
I'd gladly live my whole life over
to stand beside my angel.
In dreams I tell the world I love her
when I stand beside my angel.
I never spent the time, not a dollar not a dime;
I never gave a lot for memories.
I kept it all within or cast it to the wind;
I never took myself too seriously.
Then in a place where love had never walked before,
the room was filled with a blinding light.
One voice on every breath, one face in every door,
can this be wrong when it feels so right?
I'd gladly live my whole life over
to stand beside my angel
In dreams I tell the world I love her
when I stand beside my angel.
(And will she love me 'til the stars fall from the sky,
because they could not match the jewels behind her eyes?)
