Through Suffering He Paints the Universe
(Dedicated to Sean Reinert)
A soul long gone
Let love of its fate run array
He lived under the hand of gravity
With such intent
Almost as if it broke and set him free
And through his dreams
He brought us reverie
And through his pain we bask in reverie
Love of fate
Don't put musing's loud voice in a cage
The kings may end the world
If they let loose the nukes
And she may love me come tomorrow
Come the next day she may leave
As they decide to call the truce
Still through the dreams
He brought us reverie
And through his tears he brought us reverie
As if he knew the day the heavens let him
Through their door
The praises of his truth
Would send the congregation
Fleeing to the moon
Because he paints his sight
The suffering ignites
All pieces of grandeur
Wealth, memory
One flash, expunged from Earth's orbit
Surface, touch and sky
Embarked on nothing toward nowhere
Desolate non-land
Of souls that simply just are gone
As the sun was not and again won't be
And the ocean will freeze mourning
Everything ceases to be, as will I
Still I'd love to stain the Earth
Before venturing toward nowhere
Desolate non-land
Of souls past
And souls that could have been
Virtually the same
Nowhere
His depictions of all that he saw
Figurative drawings of life's tears and blood
Made life worth living in itself
For its purpose is itself
For its purpose is itself anyway
Look no further
Stay here, survive while you can
All pieces of grandeur
Wealth, fame, memory
One flash expunged from consciousness
Past and present tense
And thoughts of destinies
That could have been
Desolate non-land
Of souls that simply just are gone
As the sun was not and again won't be
And the ocean will freeze mourning
Everything ceases to be, as will I
Still I'd love to stain the Earth
With my name past my own time
As if he knew the day
The heavens let him through their door
The praises of his truth
Would send the congregation
Fleeing to the moon
Because he paints his sight
The pressure of his suffering
Ignites the flame
Which bursts to form a star
Resting in a place
Where its brilliant light extends so far away
To warm us when he's gone
A soul long gone
Let love of its fate die today
