Angels, Pt. 1
[Verse]
Yeah
It was an ordinary day
Readin', sittin' by the bus stop
Barely seventeen, but comfortable with the lifestyle
Of livin' on her own, in a house but not a home
In this city full of angels takin' early I suppose
Is nothing new to the rest, screamin' inside of flesh
Father used to beat her and grab right under her dress
The feelings will never fade, her mother just stood and wept
As he poured another shot of liquor, became obsessed
Flashback to the days where memories weren't forgotten
Five years old which is when they were adopted
Brother passed away and she was left forever haunted by herself Going to school, the only time she could abolis
Tthe pain inside of her chest; smiling, always flex
Do anything to pretend that her life isn't a mess
Kids just used to bully her, she never had no friends
Until she met this young kid and he was different from the rest
Always skipping class, and met each other in the halls
Vent about her problems, he would listen to them all
But she never told him anything that happened with her dad
She said she was adopted and memories made her mad
So he never asked about why she was scared to fall in love
Or why she seemed afraid every time he went to hug
He knew that something was wrong but it just wasn't his place
One day he followed her from school and took a picture of the place
He could tell her father was a bad dude
Convicted of murder inside the first book, got off last June
Sexual assault and battery up on his resumé
Never had a stable job, did drugs to numb the pain away
He often thought about what was going on in the house
She hadn't called in weeks and he was feeling down and out
So he went after school and started knockin' on the door
She opened up, was covered with blood all
On the floor was a body, he walked over and he couldn't believe
It was her father and her mother hovered over his knees
With a gun in her hand, she had stopped all her misery
Thinkin' 'bout the trauma every night and she could barely breathe
Crazy how you never judge a book by it's cover
There's only so long you can live inside gutter
That's why it's so important to be kind to one another
'Cause you never know what's going on
There's plenty to discover, yeah
