I snuck in through the back door like I always do
I locked it up and kicked off my ol noisy boots
And I tip toed down the hall way to our king size bed
And I thought that I got away with it again

But I woke to the sound of a door slam
She left her wedding rings on the night stand
With a note that told me it was over

I’ve been realized my new-found freedom
And I pawned the wedding rings ‘cause I don’t need em’
And I blew the cash down at the whiskey barrel
Then I headed to the house to my honky tonk special

Then I woke to the sound of a tow truck
She said that car is in my name
So you’re outta luck
I thought when she left it was over

Then I woke to the sound of nothing left
With the smell of 90 proof still on my breath
I guess it’s time to make things right and get sober
