Darkening Counsel Part II: Inquisition
Out of the north comes golden splendor
Clothed in terrible majesty
The Almighty, indescribable one
Far beyond our reach
Unmatched in power and justice
All men should fear
For he shows no favor
To those who are wise in their own hearts
Who is this who darkens counsel
Without knowledge, who are you
When I laid the Earth's foundations
Tell me, where were you
Was it you who shaped the oceans
Decided where they meet the land
Who is this who darkens counsel
Without knowledge, make your stand
Can you command the constellations
Bind the chains of the Pleiades
Or loose the cords of Orion
Was it you who made these
Who are you to question
Can you navigate the labyrinth of the deep
Have you seen the gates of darkness
The gates of death
Will creature call creator to the stand
As he holds all of existence in his hand
Speak up, make your charge
Tell me, who you are
Who dares to question justice to his face
Let the accuser stand and make his case
I'm waiting, the floor is yours
Answer me
Behold, I am nothing
And I've nothing left to say
So I will cover my mouth
And no more words will come out
I know you can do all things
No purpose of yours can be thwarted
I said things I don't understand
Too wonderful to know
Therefore I despise myself
And repent in dust and ashes
From the fury of the whirlwind
I alone bring down the prideful
Crush the wicked beneath my feet
Hide them all in the dust
Bind their faces in the world below
Have you walked to where the clouds dwell
You ever called down the rain
Raised your voice unto the heavens
To summon thunder and lightning
I alone bring down the prideful
Crush the wicked beneath my feet
Hide them all in the dust
Bind their faces in the world below
You said, "Listen and I will speak;
I will question and you shall answer"
My ears had heard of you
But now my eyes have seen
