Transfixed
Taylor McCarte
Loss is lost on me
Fear and joy are gone
Only left with the distance
Only this bottomless sadness
The hope has corroded
The drive is drained
The will is dead
Dead and rotting away
Sleep is fleeting and rare
As I walk, weary and aware
My mind, transfixed on nothing
But my eyes are welded open
The hole was never there
Only me and the shadows
No angels, nor beacons
Only cackles, screams, whispers and taunts
Aimlessly, I stagger away
Painfully, I limp away
Back into the black
Detached
