Throwing Glass
The city sleeps
I’m back home again
Sidewalks slick
With rain and oil and crime scene chalk
Washing away
Through the curb and to the grate
To make its way back to whence it came
In my house of stone
I’m throwing glass
A kaleidoscope of shards
Slicing through the past
In your house of straw
I’ll light the match
And huff and puff and howl
And dissolve upon impact
Thick wisteria hangs in the breeze
Choking back the cloud of vengeance hanging between you and me
In my house of stone
I’m throwing glass
A kaleidoscope of shards
Slicing through the past
In your house of cards
Built on politics and tact
I’ll shake the foundation
And dissolve on impact
Never leaving homе again, I’m never leaving homе
Underneath the bridge where the lights won’t shine
I’ll scratch out my thoughts and scratch them from my mind
Underneath the bridge where the lights refuse to shine
I’ll scratch out memories then scratch out my eyes
Lights won’t shine
Lights won’t shine
Scratch my eyes
I’ve heard of this clandestine shelter
(Did I really think that I’m an army of one, always holding out, never holding on)
Free from the reach of prey and predator
(Did I really think that I’m an army of one, never reaching out, never reaching up)
Much like my
Light won’t shine
Light won’t shine
Scratch out my eyes
